Meet our Team
Taking care of pets is not just what we do, it’s what we love and are passionate about. Your pet is in good hands with our highly qualified, professional, caring and compassionate team. We offer the very best in veterinary care, all in the comfort of your home.
Dr. Anna Abdala
Dr Anna Abdala graduated in Brazil in 2009 and ever since has been involved in natural therapies. She is studying Veterinary Acupuncture and participated in many conferences in holistic therapies. Dr Anna quickly fell in love for Australia when she first arrived in Sydney in 2012. In that same year she moved to the beautiful Fraser Coast where she worked for 4 years. She is now the head veterinarian of Animal Options Vet Clinic.
In University, Dr Anna had developed all the skills necessary to provide her patients with the best technologies in diagnostics and treatment. However, she also realized that conventional medicine was unable to fully understand the reasons behind illnesses and other health problems. She noticed that conventional medicine linear and mechanic approach to the body was not enough to diagnose and treat animals appropriately. From that moment on, Dr Anna started her journey into the natural healing path, always studying and researching for holistic medicine techniques. Now, she feels comfortable to use conventional and natural therapies together, elaborating treatment plans that combine both techniques and promote health of the body as whole.
Dr Anna believes all animals deserve an opportunity to improve their quality of life, whether they are a small young puppy or an old age cat. Animals are very resilient and use a distinct language to communicate, they don’t speak or understand to our words, but they can certainly send us message! All we need to know is to open our eyes and read their body, listening to their voice and feel their touch. A holistic vet like Dr Anna, can join all these signs together and help you understand your pet’s needs.
Walk the natural healing path with Dr Anna!
Dr. Shahnae Hayes
Dr. Shahnae has been working with Animal Options since the start of 2019. She studied a Bachelor of Veterinary Science at the University of Queensland, graduating with Honours. She has a keen interest in surgery, and also enjoys working with clients to ensure their pets live their lives as healthy as possible. She always strives to provide the best care for all the pets she sees, ensuring their best interests and comfort are always the main focus.
When she’s not working, she enjoys spending time with friends, tending to her numerous indoor plants, a good glass of wine and Netflix (or an online surgery lecture!), and hanging out with her two dogs – a Border Collie x, Cora, and Zac, a New Zealand Huntaway, and her cat, Kaiya.
Dr. Hannah Kyeong
Hannah grew up in New Zealand and completed her veterinary studies at the University of Queensland, in 2015. After graduating, she moved to the Gold Coast with her husband and their menagerie of animals which now include two pigeons.
She joined the Animal Options and Wet noses family in January 2020.
Hannah enjoys all aspects of veterinary care and providing the best service to her clients and their pets. In her spare time, she loves travelling, eating everything and outdoor sports.
Jody joined the Animal Options/Wet Noses team in January 2020. She started out as a midwife and after 15 years in midwifery had a career change to become a Practice Manager in a busy Sports Medical Clinic in Geelong, Victoria. Jody made the move from Geelong to the Gold Coast in 2018 to be closer to family and spent 2 years managing a group of Physiotherapy Clinics on the Gold Coast. She decided to make a switch from people to animals and has come to Animal Options/Wet Noses as Practice Manager to help with the day to day running of 2 busy clinics.
When not working, Jody spends her time running around after her teenage children and husband. She can often been spotted at local AFL clubs in her volunteer role as team manager for her children’s respective AFL teams and at dog parks and beaches accompanied by her family and her very large and friendly 2 year old German Shepherd ‘Mako’.
Sarah started in the veterinary industry in 2008 as a trainee nurse after graduating high school. While working she completed her studies and became a fully qualified veterinary nurse in May 2012.
At the end of 2012 Sarah got married and moved out west to Dalby with her husband Travis. During their time out west Sarah worked in a small country clinic in Bell, where she had the opportunity to work with a variety of small and large animals. In 2016 they moved back to Brisbane and welcomed their daughter, Hannah into the world.
Sarah joined the team at Animal Options in February 2017, working 3 days a week. When she’s not working she enjoys spending time with family and friends, taking her chocolate border collie, Oscar for walks and loves being a mum.
Maddie has been apart of the Animal Options team for over a year now working as a part time nurse. Maddie lives in Brisbane with her 2 year old Kelpie X named Oscar, a Burmese cat named Keeva and a pet rat named Blu. Maddie moved from Cairns to Toowoomba with her sister and mum after high school and often visits them and their 3 family pets whenever she can. Maddie continues to study in her spare time and she is due to finish her Certificate IV at the beginning of 2018.
Polli graduated in 2010 as a veterinarian in Brazil, and worked as a vet there until moving to Australia in 2016. She began working as a vet nurse and quickly realised she preferred the one-on-one patient care that comes with nursing. She has a keen interest in veterinary nutrition and formulates our home made diet plans. Polli is also currently studying a rehabilitation course for animals, to help them recover after orthopaedic surgeries and improve the quality of life for our golden oldies.
When she is not working she enjoys anything in the outdoors with her husband, and spending time with her rescue chihuahua, Pepper – who will soon be joined by a little baby brother!
Certificate III in Veterinary Nursing
RECEPTIONIST/ VETERINARY NURSE
Karen joins the Wet Noses team after spending 9-years as a veterinary nurse in the animal welfare industry. With a huge heart, a love for all animals and an enormous passion for canine behaviour, Karen has found her feet in the mobile veterinary world. Karen grew up with many animals and has fostered animals in need for most of her life. Many of them end up staying, and luckily for Karen, her husband and their two sons share her passion for animals and her need to always have multiple pets in their home. They currently have some very special dogs “their girls” as part of their family, all have been rescued and in need of a warm and loving home.
Certificate III in Veterinary Nursing
RECEPTIONIST/ VETERINARY NURSE
Sandy comes to us from a customer service and veterinary background. Having recently worked in a pet crematorium business and prior to that as a Veterinary Nurse in a mobile equine practice. She has fostered more than 300 cats and kittens over the last 20 years and simply cannot imagine life without pets. Animals are her passion, so it’s no surprise that she has found herself back in the Veterinary industry. She is currently owned by Remi the senior red kelpie, and cats Josie, Bunny, Lucy Lu and Crazy Ellie.
Hi Everyone – I’m Karen, one of your Vet Receptionists. I enjoy meeting our clients and their precious pets, and receiving the many cuddles, kisses and licks!
I have been married to Michael for 28 years, and we have two adult children, and one cat which completes our Family. My background to the vet industry doesn’t consist of much – but my passion for Cat Rescue, and involvement for the past six years in fostering has led me down the path to where I am now. I am glad this door has been opened, for I very much enjoy working with the Animal Options and Wet Noses Teams at Ormeau, who are hard-working, dedicated and professional. Being a photographer by trade, we enjoy camping, traveling and making memories. Life is short – so love hard, be kind and care for those around you – including the animals in our lives, because they don’t have a voice. I look forward to welcoming you, the next time I see you at the Clinic 🙂
Love, Love, Love Wet Noses so much! The vets are beautiful with our puppies and it makes vet appointments SO much easier with little kids. Highly recommend!
